Nameplate Ordering Help

How to Order Custom Nameplates

Ordering custom nameplates from TrophyKits.com is easy. Use these tips to choose the right material, size, text, artwork, and proof options.

Not sure which nameplate you need?

Use the comparison chart near the bottom of this page to compare popular nameplate materials, sizes, colors, and production methods.

1

Choose your metal or material color

Most custom nameplate products are offered in multiple colors. See each product page for available options.

For nameplates with color graphics and text, full-color coverage usually works best on a white or light background. Laser engraving does not allow full-color graphics.

2

Select a corner shape

Many nameplates include corner shape options. Standard corners are square 90-degree corners. Notched corners are popular for plaques and photo frames. Rounded corners give a softer finished look.

3

Choose height and width

For nameplates with size choices, select the height first. This will expand the width and text options.

Height is the up-and-down measurement. Width is the left-to-right measurement.

If you are ordering a plate for one of our products, the suggested size is usually listed in that product description. If measuring your own base, choose a nameplate slightly smaller than the face of the base so it does not extend past the corners.

4

Provide your text carefully

Text is the most important part of the order. Always enter your text exactly as you want it on the nameplate. If you use ALL CAPS, your finished plate will be all caps.

We do not check or correct spelling or punctuation unless you ask us to before production. Text is centered unless you specify otherwise.

Arial Bold is used unless you request a different font in the special instructions. If you request a font we do not have, we may contact you for the font file.

5

Upload text for large orders

You can load nameplates into the cart individually, but for large quantities with varying text, uploading one text file is usually best.

In the text field, type something like “will upload file”. After checkout and payment, the upload link will appear on your receipt page.

Please do not email text unless requested. We accept .doc, .docx, .pdf, and .txt files. A plain .txt file created with Notepad is preferred.

Avoid centered text, multiple columns, photos of text, scans, or faxes. We need text that can be copied and pasted into our software.

Matching existing plates

For repeat orders, we try to match previous orders tied to the same email address when the size and text are similar.

If matching a previous order is important, tell us in the special instructions. If you are matching a plate purchased elsewhere, upload a clear photo after checkout.

7

Images and logos

We can insert images, artwork, or logos in most cases. Mention where the image should go in the special instructions.

Accepted file types include jpg, jpeg, gif, pdf, png, bmp, ai, eps, psd, tiff, ttf, and cdr. We cannot accept images embedded inside a Microsoft Word document.

Trademarked logos may require authorization. Images should generally be at least 150 dpi for sublimation or UV printing and 300 dpi for laser engraving.

8

Special instructions and proofs

Use the special instructions area for font requests, color requests, background notes, logo placement, matching notes, or anything else we should know.

We highly recommend a proof for first-time customers or complicated layouts. Proofs are usually sent in 1–2 business days and may slightly delay production until approval is received.
